Human Microbiome Studies

The human microbiome consists of a vast number of microorganisms, ranging from bacteria to fungi, that live in and on the body.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the microbiome is important in human health, with beneficial microbes providing protection from pathogens, increasing nutrient absorption, improving bowel habits, reducing inflammation and influencing the ability to respond to certain drugs.

Studying the microbiome could include metagenomic analysis for functional characterization, taxonomic profiling, and metabolite profiling to assess metabolic states and microbe-microbe interactions. Eremid™’s research teams provide considerable expertise in extracting, analyzing and interpreting sequencing and metabolomic data from microbiome samples.
